About the Project
Walkabout Flintshire is managed by Groundwork Wrexham & Flintshire and celebrated its 4th Anniversary in April 2007. The project is free and ensures people never walk alone. The walk programme offers a wide variety of walks which are open to everyone and led by trained Volunteer Walk Leaders.
The success of Walkabout Flintshire has been recognised by the many awards that it has received since it began, including; ‘Most Outstanding National Partner Activity 2004’, ‘Regional Volunteers of the Year Award 2004’, ‘Highly Commended Volunteers of the Year Award 2005’, ‘Team of the Year Award 2005’, and ‘Wales Volunteers of the Year Award 2006’.
‘Walkabout Flintshire 2007-2010’ aims to engage individuals from Communities First areas and rural areas in healthy walking activities, intergenerational walking challenges and nutritional advice sessions in order to improve health and well being and reduce social isolation.
