Wrexham

Walkabout Wrexham & District is a volunteer run, free walking scheme set up to continue the Groundwork Wrexham & Flintshire project ‘Walkabout Wrexham’ which started in 2001. Funded by the Big Lottery from April 2007 – March 2010, the volunteer walk leaders formed a constituted group to continue the walks from 1st April 2010, in and around the Wrexham area.

The scheme still ensures that people never walk alone and in its 9 years with Groundwork, has grown from strength to strength, currently offering over 10 weekly and over 20 fortnightly, monthly and special walks to the public.

The free walks are designed to suit all ages and abilities and all walks are led by 2 trained and friendly Volunteer Walk Leaders.

Walkabout Wrexham & District aims to raise £500-700 per year to continue the walks through the production of free walking programmes, provision of clothing, equipment and training and insurance through Lets Walk Cymru.

To receive a free walks programme, visit or contact the Wrexham Tourist Information Centre (01978) 292015 or alternatively download the walk booklet from the official website www.walksinwrexham.com. The website also contains directions to all the walks, faq’s, updates on the Walkabout Wrexham & District meetings and upcoming fundraising events.
