Grants

Grants‘Let’s Walk Cymru’ is providing grants to organisations and groups across Wales. The programme seeks to explore innovative ways of promoting walking to improve health and wellbeing. Applications must:

  • Demonstrate how their project will contribute to increasing physical activity participation in the adult population; (15 yrs plus)
  • Target the most inactive people and those who would benefit the most from health enhancing activity;
  • Target areas of greatest need;
  • Promote the use of the countryside and make use of the natural environment

Who can apply?

‘Let’s Walk Cymru’ encourages and supports projects who work with other groups and organisations where community-based partnerships have been/will be established.

Applications can be made by the following:

  • Local Authorities;
  • Local Health Boards;
  • Health Alliances;
  • Health-related community groups;
  • Community groups;
  • Voluntary groups;
  • Not-for-profit organisations;
  • Workplaces/businesses

Individuals are not eligible.

Levels of Grants

Level 1: £1,001 - £5,000
Community group, Communities First, small voluntary organisation, groups engaged with specific target group

Level 2: £5,001 - £10,000
Multiple community areas, groups engaged with multiple partners and target groups

Level 3: £10,001 - £15,000
Local authority, Local Health Board, large voluntary organisation.

Total level of grant must reflect size and content of the project. Awards will be based on key outputs.

Grants for 2008/09 are now available through a rolling programme. There is no specific closing date.
